Carlops Church is in Carlops village, ten miles south-west of Edinburgh on trunk road A702. The church opened in 1850 and was refurbished in 2009. Carlops parish has about 180 homes (60 in Carlops itself) and extends from Silverburn in the north, to a point between Carlops and West Linton in the south.
Carlops Church maintains close links with its community and collaborates with the village hall to provide cultural, social and spiritual activities for the whole community. Average Sunday congregation is about thirty and the church counts over 120 regular supporters across all activities.
Forward Plan
Carlops Church has a new Forward Plan, approved by Carlops Kirk Session on 28 November 2023, and now printed and distributed. The descendant of the 2016 and 2007 editions, the Forward Plan explains Carlops Church’s character and objectives, proposes targets and activities, and emphasises that everyone is welcome at all and any Carlops Church events.
